Visiting Narooma? We have curated a list of our top 10 things to do in the area for all ages & abilities, there is something for everyone.

1. NAROOMA TO DALMENY COASTAL TRAIL – Shared walking and cycling trail

Ranked as one of the top 3 bike trails in NSW by Australian Geographic Magazine the Narooma to Dalmeny Coastal Trail is spectacular. Stop at the Town Wharf and look out for the giant sting rays, continue to Bar Rock Lookout with views up the coast, see Australia Rock and our absolute favourite, the seals on the break wall. They are so close you can almost touch them. This stunning coastal trail closely follows the coastline including the Mill Bay Boardwalk and then all the way to Dalmeny with one beautiful beach after another.   Visit Big Niles Brewery for a local craft beer.

Hire an E-Bike or book a self-guided e-bike tour from Southbound Escapes

Montague Island

2. BARANGUBA (MONTAGUE ISLAND)

Baranguba (Montague Island) is the second largest island off NSW and is one of the most highly certified conservation areas in the world.  One of the most popular experiences is to snorkel or dive with the seals or our favourite is the sunset penguin tour which we think is a must do experience.  If you would like a bit more time to explore the island book the longer morning tour or for the shorter tour the afternoon tour is best.

Experience Montague Island here.

3. CRAFT BEER BREWERY TOUR

The region is fast becoming the epicentre of boutique craft breweries. The Southbound Escapes brewery tour visits 4-5 craft breweries (Wednesday to Sunday weekly)

Book your next craft beer brewery tour here.

4. CULTURAL TOUR

This region on the South Coast of NSW is known as Yuin Country to the First Nations Peoples of Australia. Southbound Escapes cultural tours are experiential, transformative, and spiritual and are a must do experience whilst in the region. Walk the Bingi Dreaming Track with a local Elder or along the coast in Mystery Bay. The world has so much to learn from thousands of years of this ancient First Nations culture.

Book a cultural tour online.

Oyster Farmer

5. THE OYSTER FARMERS DAUGHTER OYSTER BAR.

Narooma is known for its seafood and what could be fresher then eating oysters straight from the oyster farm.   This outdoor restaurant is an absolute must do for those who love seafood. For those who want a bit more adventure why not ride out there or an e-bike or take a tour for an exclusive experience on the Southbound Escapes Oyster and Craft Beer Tour.

Enjoy your seafood? Book it in.

6. BEACHES

Walk on one of our many spectacular beaches – 1080 Beach, Handkerchief Beach, Kianga Beach, Glasshouse Rocks Beach to name just a few. Explore the headland walks around Dalmeny or to Camel Rock in Akolele. Ask us about Dog Friendly beaches of which there are many.

Tilba Tilba

7. CENTRAL TILBA, TILBA TILBA AND THE BELLBROOK LOOP WALK

Walk the Bellbrook Loop Walk in the Gulaga National Park in Central Tilba, explore this beautiful National Trust Village on a walking tour with Tilba Walks Heritage Talks and taste the cheeses at Tilba Dairy – The Bellbrook Loop Walk takes around one hour and is one of the most beautiful walks in the area. Take a picnic lunch with you are there is a stunning picnic table with breath taking views over the valley halfway around. (Stock up on cheeses from Tilba Dairy before you go). This mountain is sacred to the local Yuin Nation and is as significant to the local Yuin people as Uluru is to the people of Central Australia. Browse the shops in the village and try the world-renowned cocktails at Sweet Water Restaurant – at least we want the world to know about them as they are very good!

8. WAGONGA INLET

Cruise around the Wagonga Inlet. You can either hire a tinnie, BBQ boat or kayak. For a more relaxing experience take a cruise on the Wagonga Princess Cruise or the Nar Oo Ma Aboriginal Cultural Tour which is due to start operation in December 2022. There is so much more to do in the region so please do not hesitate to reach out to ask what else there is to do.

9. COFFEE
